Father Shane Deman, a 1999 Heelan graduate, is chaplain of 
Bishop Heelan High School and also serves as the director of vocations for the Diocese of Sioux City.
He recently earned his doctorate in theology at Gregorian University in Rome. Before then he served as parochial vicar of Holy Trinity Parish in Webster County and chaplain at St. Edmond’s High School in Fort Dodge.
Deman earned his undergraduate degree in vocal music and philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and attended seminary at Pontifical North American College in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 28, 2008 at the Cathedral of the Epiphany.
Deman is the son of Heelan grads Greg and Francine(Kukula) Deman ’72.
His siblings are Heelan grads Chris ’01 of Phoenix and Catie (Deman) Miltenberger ’03 of Omaha.
