Read with a Crusader

Read with a Crusader is a reading challenge designed to encourage a love for stories, imagination, learning, and reading together at home. Children track the number of books they read throughout the month and have the opportunity to earn fun recognition and prizes. This program is open to children ages 3-5 years old that live in the Siouxland area and/or are in any daycare settings throughout Siouxland.

Reading for this challenge will be counted from December 1 through December 31, 2025. All reading logs must be submitted by January 3, 2026, for final tally and award consideration.

Program Details

  1. Contest open to children ages 3-5 living in Sioux City, IA, Dakota Dunes, SD, and South Sioux City, NE, Siouxland area.
  2. Books can be read to the child by a parent, sibling, or themselves.
  3. Contest runs December 1st – December 31st, 2025.
  4. Entries must be submitted via the official form by 11:59 PM on January 3rd, 2026 (once you sign up, you will receive an email or text with a link to this official form on November 30, 2025).
  5. Winners will receive notification by email and will be announced on BHCS social media on January 5, 2026. All prizes must be picked up. A BHCS representative will reach out directly with instructions. If a prize is not picked up by January 19, 2026, it will be forfeited and awarded to the next participant in line. If no participant claims the prize by February 1, 2026, it will be held and used for a future program giveaway.
  6. By entering, you consent to BHCS contacting you regarding BHCS opportunities (no spam, just updates and invites!).
  7. Photo submissions grant permission for BHCS to feature the entry on marketing materials.
