Siouxland Grants Help Classrooms

Schools Receive $7,700 for Learning

The 2018 New Year got off to a great start for Mater Dei, Sacred Heart and Holy Cross Schools in the form of 13 grants worth $7,763 from the Siouxland Community Foundation to benefit K-5 school classrooms and projects. Teachers submitted requests for $430 to $1,000 in grants to enhance classroom learning. Both public and private schools received support.  Mater Dei also received over $5,000 in grants in 2017.

The following items will be funded by the grants:

Mater Dei Immaculate Conception and Nativity
- Chromebooks/School Licenses
- New Transitional Kindergarten Needs
- Mobile Lab with Kindle Fire’s
- Classroom Technology
- Resource iPad Pro and Case
- iPads for enrichment and learning
- Osmos in the Classroom Kindergarten curriculum software
- Connect with Kindle in the classroom
- Bass Guitar with Amplifier
- 4 Chromebooks and school licenses

Sacred Heart
- After School homework help
- 5th grade Classroom Novels

Holy Cross
- PE Archery Program

The Siouxland Community Foundation administers charitable funds, established by donors, to benefit Sioux City and surrounding communities. It awards nearly 350 grants and scholarships yearly to Siouxland nonprofit organizations and graduating seniors, including Heelan seniors, to help support needs in education, arts and culture, environment, community betterment and more. The classroom grants are part of its Excellence in Education program.
