Classroom Grants Support Learning

Seven BHCS elementary school teachers recently received a total of nearly $5,000 in grants from the Siouxland Community Foundation to help enhance learning in their classrooms.

Teachers at Holy Cross, Mater Dei, Sacred Heart and the Dual Language Academy received “Excellence in Education” grants ranging from $476 to $1,000 to purchase advanced learning materials for their classrooms. The grants will be used to strengthen STEM, reading, creativity, math, self-esteem and social studies.

Classrooms from kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible to receive the awards from the foundation’s annual program. BHCS teachers have applied for and received grants for a number of years.
