Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools welcomed Kelsey Schomaker as the new Director of Finance. She started with the administration staff on April 11.
A native of Early, Iowa, Schomaker is a 2007 graduate of Schaller-Crestland High School and a 2011 grad from Briar Cliff University. She majored in Accounting and Business Administration.
“Kelsey was very impressive in her two interviews with the search committee and we are thrilled to welcome her,” said Dr. John Flanery, BHCS President. “Thanks to those of you that have been praying for us during this transition and search. We are excited to welcome Kelsey to Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools!”
Schomaker most recently worked at the Siouxland Human Investment Partnership as its Business and Finance Director and spent over five years there.
Her experience working at nonprofit organizations inspired her to apply for the position here at Heelan, saying that the job felt like it was an appropriate fit.
“This felt right,” Schomaker said. “Bishop Heelan is the culmination of bringing together values that I was raised with and my work passions and career aspirations. I always want to continually learn and evolve and I know this position will challenge me.”
Schomaker said her favorite hobby is playing golf. She spent a lot of time on the golf course with her family and grew to love the game. She enjoys playing the area courses.
