Prayers for the Family of Isaac Roerig

Heelan Grad Loses Life in Accident
Posted on 10/10/2020
The Bishop Heelan family is mourning the loss of 2020 grad Isaac Roerig following a fatal accident in Cedar Falls yesterday where he was attending college. Isaac is the son of Susan and Todd Roerig of Mater Dei Parish, a brother to Noah '19 and Grace, a seventh grader. Todd, boys and girls cross country coach, has served as a religion teacher for many years at Mater Dei School and recently moved to the faculty of a Bishop Heelan High School.

BHCS President John Flanery shared this message in an email to all BHCS family members

“Dear Bishop Heelan family,
It is with tremendous grief that I message you about the passing of 2020 Bishop Heelan graduate Isaac Roerig. Isaac was a freshmen music education major at the University of Northern Iowa and was a pedestrian when he was struck by a semi in Cedar Falls and pronounced dead later at the hospital. Isaac's dad, Todd, had been the religion teacher at Mater Dei for the last several years and this year moved on staff at Bishop Heelan. Todd is also our cross country coach. This news is truly devastating. Please keep the entire Roerig family in your prayers as well as our Bishop Heelan community. This is the 2nd member of the class of 2020 to die in less than four months.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
