Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools has named Zach James as the Director of Communications and Marketing.

He will be responsible for news releases, social media, video production and more.

“What a thrill it is to join the Heelan community,” James said. “I’ve had great respect for the athletic side of the Heelan community, and while I will enjoy working with that side, I’m just as eager to learn about the other activities.”

James comes to BHCS from the journalism world, after a three-year stint at the Sioux City Journal.

James has been in journalism since he was a student at Montezuma. There, he was awarded “Best Column” by the Iowa High School Press Association.

He went to college at Simpson College in Indianola, and he graduated in May 2013 with a bachelor's degree in Multimedia Journalism.

His professional career included him working at newspapers and online outlets in Iowa Falls, Clinton, Des Moines as well as La Crosse, Wis. and Winona, Minn.

James has joined the Advancement staff of Janet Flanagan, Tom Betz, Patty Considine-McClintock and Tammy Eveleth.

“We are excited to add Zach James to our team,” BHCS President John Flanery said. “He has a wonderful level of experience and brings a youthful presence to our team.”
