Bishop Heelan High School has named Chad Moseman as new varsity football coach. A 1990 Heelan graduate, Moseman brings with him 28 years of football coaching experience, including most recently as an assistant coach for Heelan varsity football.

Moseman coached for the Sioux City Stampede semi-pro team 2015-2019 and coached for a year at Morningside College.

He served as head football coach at Lawton-Bronson for 12 years (2003-2014) where students set 29 school records and completed their best record in school history as state runners-up. In addition, he earned district coach of the year and regional coach of the year honors. Moseman also was head boys’ track coach for several years.

“I am humbled and honored to be a part of the long-standing Heelan tradition of excellence,” Moseman says. “As Heelan’s head football coach, my charge is to help our student athletes realize their talents, and their responsibility is to use those talents to help others.”

Moseman also helped coach football at Exira High School in Elk Horn, Iowa, football River Valley High school in Correctionville, and North High School.

At Heelan, Moseman was one of three captains on the 1989 state runner-up team and received the PRIDE Award. He played Division 11 football at Morningside College where he earned a BS degree. He then earned a master’s degree in PK-12 administration at Wayne State College.

“I am extremely excited that Coach Moseman will be our next head football coach at Bishop Heelan,” says Anthony Elias, Heelan athletic director.  “We were fortunate to receive applications from quite a few highly regarded football coaches, but Coach set himself apart with his enthusiasm for Heelan and its rich football tradition, his successful coaching experience, and his ability to build strong relationships with our student-athletes.”

Moseman and his wife, Catherine (’93), have three children.
