Posted on 07/14/2021
Lexi Ricke has joined Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools in the new position of Campus Minister to assist Heelan Chaplain Fr. Shane Deman with activities at Heelan and in the middle schools.

A 2017 Heelan grad, she recently graduated with a degree in theology from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan.

Lexi will work with Fr Shane and theology teachers in organizing Bible studies, prayer and ministry activities, liturgies, and weekday class retreats as well as weekend overnight retreats and conferences such as Steubenville.

She will facilitate student ownership of prayer events, coordinate and expand service opportunities, promote a pro-life culture in the schools and enhance school environments with visible expressions of faith.
“Lexi will work with faculty to draw students into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ within the life of the Roman Catholic Church,” says Fr. Deman. “Theological reflection and prayer will be an integral part of experiences she will organize for students.”

An active student at Heelan, Lexi graduated sixth in her class. She was selected as Sioux City Rotary Club Student of the Year, served as president of Heelan’s Rotary Interact club, played softball for five years, volleyball for three years, and was a member of the Mayor’s Youth Commission and Heelan’s Miracle Makers Club.

She is the daughter of Matt and Sara Ricke and sister to two other Heelan grads.
