A new Advanced Placement Course, "Computer Science Principles,"  was added to the Bishop Heelan High curriculum this school year.
The AP class, a full-year, rigorous course, is the equivalent of a first-semester introductory college computer science course.

Students will cover programming, algorithms, the Internet, big data, digital privacy and security, societal impacts of computing and more. Students will also design and create programs in Python programming language.

The course, taught by business faculty chair Jennifer Uhl, will teach students 21st century skills and support college and career readiness. The course will prepare students to take the Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles exam administered by the College Board in May.
