Tickets are on sale for the Heelan Auction “Tailgate for Heelan,” Wednesday, June 9 at 5 p.m. at Bishop Heelan High School. They can be purchased at 

Honors will be bestowed for the second consecutive year. The Crusader of the Year will be awarded to Larry Walsh and Distinguished Volunteer of the Year award will be presented to Sid and Linda Shoemaker.

The evening begins with a social hour outside at Crusader Courtyard and then moves inside to the court of O'Gorman Fieldhouse for dinner. Tailgate tents and fare will be: Iowa, Sneaky's chicken; Iowa State, pulled pork sandwiches smoked by Iowa State grads Mike Neswick and Mark Hickman and Nebraska: Aggies. Dessert will be served from the Heelan Notre Dame tent. 

The premier live auction item will be a tailgate trailer with custom decals chosen by the winner.

Trips to Orlando, Fort Myers and Las Vegas also will be offered along with sign up events for hitting baseballs on new turf at Heelan's baseball field, bowling at the Warrior, party at Whispering Creek and swimming at Pearl Lake in Akron.

Tailgate for Heelan  Chair Couples are: Jon and Liz Determan, Rick and Becca Feauto, Jerad and Peggy Higman, Greg and Laura Topf. They represent Bishop Heelan High School, Holy Cross School, Sacred Heart School and Mater Dei School.

Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s colors or logo wear.

The goal for the Heelan Auction — the only annual fundraising event to support Heelan High and four Catholic elementary schools — is $375,000.  Fund-A-Cause will support refurbishing the Heelan Weight Room for middle school and high school students. A PRIDE blitz of donations from alumni around the country will help fund technology for schools.
