High school and elementary students of Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools will gather in the CYO of Bishop Heelan High School on Wednesday, March 15, from 7:35 a.m. till 2:10 p.m. to assemble over 100,000 nutritious meals for the poor in Honduras as part of the annual “Then Feed Just One” program.

Since Bishop Heelan Schools started the service project in 1998, students have assembled over 1 million meals.

Students in grades 5-12 work in assembly lines to bag and box meals of enriched rice, dried vegetables and seasonings for shipment to Honduras. Students from Holy Cross, Mater Dei and Sacred Heart schools will be bused to the Heelan CYO to work one-hour shifts. Faculty, staff and volunteers work alongside them.

Students and adults are asked to donate $20 to cover the cost of the meals, materials and shipping to Honduras.

“Then Feed Just One” is a mobile food-packing program that involves schools and others in alleviating world hunger.
