Cheerleading Coach
The role of the Cheerleading Coach is to teach the cheerleading squad to promote school spirit and encouragement of athletic teams. Bishop Heelan Catholic High School sees the role of the Cheerleading Coach as being someone who, in addition to having a knowledge in coaching the sport of cheerleading, can teach and model high character. Ideally it will be someone who can coach our young women and men in a competitive sport yet help them keep a balance in all aspects of their lives, spiritually, socially, mentally and physically.
A cheerleader promotes school spirit, school pride, and encourages the members of the athletic teams. Their involvement and enthusiasm in the Heelan community helps other students feel a part of the community. Promoting positive teamwork, positive interactions amongst teammates (and all levels of the program), modeling sportsmanship and fan involvement at games and pep assemblies are viewed as important aspects of being a cheerleader.
