Heelan Class of ’76 50th Class Reunion
It is hard to believe it has been 50 years since we roamed the halls of Heelan. Those same halls have given way to a brand new modern Bishop Heelan High School and sadly the Old brick and mortar stands no longer. We are going to have our 50th Class reunion in conjunction with the Heelan Homecoming celebration this Fall. Here is the Information of what we have planned:
- Thursday September 24, 2026 - Evening
- For those of you that get in town early, we will plan to informally meet at Bill’s Bar 2110 Court Street in Sioux City. As of the time of this writing, our classmate Bill Brown still own’s the place. We will get a few pizza’s from Mark Lennon at El Fredo’s so there is something to munch on, you are on your own for beverages at their cash bar. Nothing formally planned here, just a place to gather.
- Friday September 25, 2026 – 11:30 AM
- We are going to ride in the Heelan Homecoming Parade. Rick Bousquet is going to provide a trailer and a vehicle to pull it. We can all meet about 11:30 in the parking lot north of the CYO and Marian Hall for the parade that usually starts about noon.
- Friday September 25, 2026 – 6:00 PM - ???
- We have reserved the outdoor patio off the alley behind Buffalo Alice, 1022 4th street in Sioux City. We will try to provide some pizza and tap beer if funds allow. They have a full cash bar also.
- Friday September 25, 2026 – 7:00
- For those interested the Heelan Crusaders Homecoming football game against Sioux Center will be at Memorial Field. Make sure to come down to BA’s afterward and let the rest of us know who won!
- Saturday September 26, 2026 – 10:00 AM
- For those interested we will meet in the commons of the new Bishop Heelan Catholic High School for a tour of the new school building
- Saturday September 26, 2026 – 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Don Claeys will be hosting an informal get together at his house, 31848 HWY 12 in Sioux City. We will serve taverns, pulled pork, munchies, pop, and water. Bring your own cooler if you want something else. He has a horseshoe pit and bags along with a swimming pool. Kids and grandkids are welcome. Bring your swimsuit if you are so inclined.
- Saturday September 27, 2026 – We have reserved the Elks Lodge d112 – 1001 Tri View Avenue in Sioux City for the night for our class.
- 6:00 - Cocktails. Cocktails and dinner are on us for the night.
- Dinner catered in at 7:00
- 9:00 - Midnight - Live local band TRUST playing the best music of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. You won’t want to miss it.
- Hotels located near events:

- Double Tree by Hilton
- Avid Hotel
We will be doing this on a free will offering basis so that all are encouraged to attend. If you can afford to send us $5 or $500…all are welcome. Please do not let cost be the reason you do not attend. Please send all donations for the reunion to:

Paula Goetz and Rick Beller have started an Angel Fund through our Heelan Class of 76 Facebook page to help people who have a connection to our class. Any funds left over from the Class reunion will be deposited into that Angel Fund so be generous if
you are able.

School tour, followed by Mass together.
Sioux City Railroad Museum, 3400 Sioux River Road, Sioux City 5:30 PM

6:00 Opening of the Class Time Capsule
6:30 Buffet dinner catered by Aggies
A variety of soda, beer, and wine will be provided in limited quantities.
You are also welcome to bring your own beverages.
Bring your Photos and Memorabilia
We will have a display area set up for Saturday night.
We’d love to see your favorite high school memories, your current family photos, and anything in between.
Please bring a printed copy of photos. We cannot guarantee the safe return of all pictures.
Consider attaching an index card with a caption for each photo.
