Job Summary - tasks and responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with parish priests on planning and offering the Sacraments throughout the system, including weekly Masses and offering consistent Confession
- Collaborate with parish priests and parish staff about protocols for students who need to receive Sacraments in the school system (ex: First Communion, Confirmation)
- Work with parish priests and parish staff in collaboration, discussions and planning of events and initiatives, and encourage enrolled families to participate in the parish
- Collaborate with the high school chaplain, campus ministry, central office staff, school principals, and their staff
- Work with the school principals to provide opportunities for spiritual direction and faith-formation for students and staff
- Develop and oversee the budget pertaining to areas of responsibility

Job Summary:
The Director of Student Services (this is one of three positions, system-wide) is responsible for the planning, development, management, and implementation of all aspects of Student Services programs of the District. Responsibilities include: 504’s and IEP’s, child welfare and attendance, grant funded programs, and performs related work as required. Essential Job Functions:
Provides leadership and vision to ensure compliance in matters relating to alternative education, child welfare and attendance.

Campus Minister
Job Title: 7-12 Campus Minister
Reports To: Director of Campus Ministry
Start Date: Summer 2026
Primary Purpose:
In conjunction with the Director of Campus Ministry, to plan and execute the facilitation of liturgies, retreats, and other events among 7-12 grade levels to draw students into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ within the life of the Roman Catholic Church.
Essential Functions:
-Plans and executes Campus Ministry that develops a broad base of student participation. This will involve the coordination of events, activities, and facilities for small groups, Bible studies, retreats, and conferences. It will include the building of strong relationships with students including 1:1 discipleship.
-Works with the building principals, members of the theology department, faculty, coaches and extra curricular directors to promote the formation of students in the faith and execute various ministries.
-Active in planning liturgies and assisting with sacramental opportunities within the school in coordination with the Chaplain.
-Works to encourage students and families to engage an integrated Catholic life in and outside of the school.
-Supports and strengthens the faith dimension of the school by following the command of Christ to “Pray always” through prayer opportunities during the liturgical seasons, special events, and during times of crisis. Facilitating student ownership of prayer events is a priority.
-Organizes service opportunities within the school. Coordinates existing service work and expands opportunities for the students.
-Promotes a pro-life culture within the school through events and student awareness.
-Plan and lead retreat opportunities both as day retreats and weekend overnight retreats.
-Promotes a culture of vocational discernment among students.10Builds collaborative relationships with clergy and staff of local parishes and other Catholic institutions. Builds collaborative relationships with clergy and staff of local parishes and other Catholic institutions.
-Collaborates with chaplain and guidance counselor in assisting students with personal problems and pressures.

-Assists the Director of Campus Ministry in budgeting, communication, scheduling, and follow up necessary for each responsibility.
-Attends conferences or training sessions yearly to continue to improve their skills.
-Participates in an annual performance evaluation according to the employee guidelines and policies.
This at-will position is a year-round contract with generally a 40-hour per week position within the school day during the academic year. With the nature of retreats, events, conferences and other activities, some nights and weekends will be necessary to fulfill the duties of the position. Flexibility will be considered during busy seasons in communication with the Director of Campus Ministry and Bishop Heelan Principal. Summers will have considerable flexibility based on the needs as overseen by the Director of Campus Ministry.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required or Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Ministry, Evangelization or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- Must be in good standing with the Catholic Church, practice the Catholic faith, and have an interest in building knowledge of the latest trends in youth ministry and in building relationships among others in the field. Ability to perform or willingness to learn sacristan duties.
- Must be able to handle confidential information appropriately, be well-organized with a good eye for detail, and be able to perform responsibilities effectively in a flexible manner in response to continual change. Must be computer literate in a variety of applications or willing to learn in a short time. Must possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to deal directly with students and clergy.

Job Title: Advancement Major Gifts

Primary Purpose:
The Advancement Major Gifts position is responsible for leading and growing philanthropic support for Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools with a primary focus on major gifts, capital campaigns and planned giving. This role builds relationships and secures transformation gifts including cash, stock, real estate and estate commitments.
Essential Functions and Duties:
● Manage the full advancement fundraising cycle for campaigns, funds and appeals.
● Lead the cultivation of major gifts including any current campaign along with connecting with top donors.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and current donors while cultivating relationships with major donors through personal visits.
● Promotion of the Heritage Society planned giving program and active recruiting of new members.
● Plan and host Crusader Caravan alumni events with gatherings in Omaha, Des Moines, Minneapolis, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix and other locations.
● Solicit major donors for the Msgr. Lafferty Tuition Foundation fund.
● Lead, assist and coordinate local alumni events such as reunions as well as Boji Bash, Legacy Gala, Auction and other events.
● Collaborate with the advancement team and the Director of Communications and Marketing on a personal weekly email to our database.
● Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Marketing on social media items and other promotional opportunities.
● Oversee the renewal of the alumni directory publication every 5 years.

Advancement Coordinator

Primary Purpose:
The Advancement Coordinator provides administrative and programmatic support to the Advancement Office. This role assists with donor relations, fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, and advancement events. The position will provide support in donor recognition, communications, event coordination, alumni relations, donor stewardship and campaigns that strengthen relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners. The Advancement Coordinator is an entry-level position ($40K-50K- commensurate with experience and skill set)

● Graphic design skills for pamphlets and materials preferred.
● Assist with newsletters, email campaigns, and social media related to advancement efforts.
● Coordinate mailings and promotional materials.
Alumni Relations and Fundraising:
● Coordinate and facilitate alumni and donor events along with reunions with the Advancement team.
● Assist with donor stewardship activities and communications including alumni weekly emails.
● Assist with annual fund campaigns and fundraising initiatives including Gold Club, the Spirit of Heelan, Heelan auction, the Legacy Event and others.
● Support grant research and proposal preparation when needed.
● Assist with invitations, registrations, logistics, and event follow-up.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
● Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
● Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
● Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.
● Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.
● Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
● Ability to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.
● The Advancement Coordinator will regularly work with sensitive and confidential donor, constituent, and institutional financial information, requiring a high level of accuracy and discretion.
● Interest in fundraising, philanthropy, and relationship building.
● Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support advancement and alumni events.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience in nonprofit, or advancement/development operations.
● Event planning experience.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
Walking, standing and traveling are required occasionally. There are limited
exposures to adverse environmental conditions. Clerical duties require working at
distances close to the eyes, using computers and communication technology.
Some light lifting is occasionally required.

Job Title: Substitute Teachers
Reports To: Principal at School Location/s
Start Date: Immediate
Primary Purpose:
To form students academically, emotionally, and spiritually while instilling a love for others, for God, and for their Catholic faith.
Essential Functions:
1. Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for the students.
2. Track attendance.
3. Administer quizzes and tests, explain assignments, and collect homework.
4. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
5. Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.
6. Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria.
7. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.
8. For long-term substitutes: develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the teacher’s regular lesson plans.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required or Preferred:
A valid and current Substitute Teacher license or authorization
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in education
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages
• General knowledge of several subjects
• Ability to adapt plans to specific classrooms
• Flexibility and critical-thinking skills
