Mary Lou graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School . She has a bachelor's degree in education from Wayne State College and additional hours from Morningside, St. Thomas . Mary Lou has taught at Sacred Heart for 21 years. She taught two years after her marriage to Terry and then stayed home for seventeen years. Mary Lou and Terry have four children and five grandchildren. Mary Lou received the Bishop Lawrence D. Soens Excellence in Education Award from the Sioux City Diocese in 2003.
