Principal's Message

Principal, Mater Dei SchoolMary Fischer inside school

"There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they can grow up in peace."
Kofi Annan

When you walk into our buildings you will notice
the atmosphere that celebrates children, their diverse needs, and the right they all have to grow up in world that respects them for whothey are
and acknowledges their gifts and talents. Mater Dei School welcomes the challenge of meeting each of our students where they are academically, socially and emotionally.

Mater Dei is a preschool through eighth grade school contained in two buildings. The Immaculate Conception Center, preschool through fourth grade, and the Nativity Center, now fifth through eighth grade, are both in the Morningside area of Sioux City. With an average class size of 19, students are given individual attention and accommodated to meet those individual needs.

It is a pleasure to be associated with the dedicated individuals who prepare our students for the future, academically of course, but also a preparation that, most importantly, includes the ability to look out for the dignity of all others. This lesson finds its way into the academic areas as well as in areas of student life. All students, preschool through eighth grade, participate in weekly class meetings designed to give the students the ability to problem solve and work together creatively. It is our goal to ensure that all children feel accepted and that they have the tools that will help them communicate effectively.

You are always welcome to tour our buildings and check out for yourself the wonderful things happening at Mater Dei School.
