Faith and Service

Our faith is central to our learning community. Activities include:

Prayer to open each class and begin and close each school day

• All-school liturgies held every week at the Cathedral

• Weekday Masses held in the Heelan High Chapel

• Prayer services in our school gymnasium

• Religion classes

• Chaplain faith-building activities with Fr. Shane Deman

• Student retreats in schools and parishes

• Faculty and staff retreats

• Days of reconciliation

• Knights of the Altar

Focus on Service
Our students show care and respect for others through community service. For those who volunteer every year at Heelan for select hours w
e honor them as seniors with silver cords at graduation for ongoing volunteerism.

Examples of service include:

• Community Service Day sending 500 students to area non-profits

• Thanksgiving Dinners to needy families

• Make a Wish donations to fulfill the dream of a seriously ill child

• Mission trips to serve low-income residents

• “Then Feed Just One” meal packing event for Honduras

• Special Olympics and other community activities

• Mayor’s Youth Commission participation
