Anthony Elias has joined Bishop Heelan High School as athletic director, filling the position formerly held by Jason Pratt. In his new post Elias will work closely with staff and coaches, schedule all high school athletic contests for boys and girls sports and much more.

Elias mostly recently served as athletic director and head basketball coach at Siouxland Christian School, and has been an assistant men’s basketball coach and an adjunct physical education instructor at Morningside College. A California native, he also was head men’s basketball coach at Blue Mountain Community College in Oregon.

He also has worked with school admissions and fundraising. Elias has a Master of Arts degree in sports management, a bachelor’s degree in human performance, and an associate degree in elementary education. He and his wife, Tiffany, have two children and are members of Mater Dei Parish.

Elias will continue to build on the program led by Jason Pratt, who will be leaving the director’s position after 13 years. Heelan Principal Chris Bork worked with Pratt since 2005.

“I appreciated Jason’s love for student activities, his willingness to put students first and most of all his love and passion for Crusader Activities.” Bork says. “We won 12 state titles and qualified over 85 teams for state tournament play under Jason’s leadership.”

“I care very deeply about Bishop Heelan and will truly miss working with the students and faculty in trying to make Bishop Heelan the best high school in the area,” Pratt says.
