Mardi Gras, Crusader Style Apr.17!
This year’s co-chair couples are Mark & JoAnn Sawin and John & Ann Rehan Goebel. Sawin’s are graduates of Catholic schools and currently have two children at Bishop Heelan High School. Drs. John & Ann Rehan Goebel attended Catholic schools. Ann is a 1979 graduate of Bishop Heelan. They have three children in the Bishop Heelan Catholic School system. This annual spring event is touted as the “social event of the year,” thanks, in part, to the generous support of Catholic school friends and supporters. Last year an impressive $405,000 was raised and over 700 people attended! The cost to attend Mardi Gras, Crusader Style is $85 per person. The financial support received from this event will be directed to new science technology, vocal music and band departments, and teacher salaries for our PreK-12 school system. This year’s Fund-A-Cause is Enhancing Technology to Embrace the Future. This will assist BHCS to update computer labs with thin client technology. As always, there will be a variety of auction items available. Various items include exciting vacations, concert tickets to a U2 concert, tickets to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, dinner parties, jewelry, State Basketball Championship memorabilia, dining certificates, and themed gift baskets. Certificates from many local businesses for both products and services will also be available. There will be something for everyone! The silent auction tables open at 5:00 p.m. A sit down dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. followed by the live auction. The evening will be capped off with dancing to the band, “The Magnificent Board of Directors.” We invite and encourage your participation for this year’s “social event of the year.” If you are interested in attending or being a sponsor of this great evening, please contact Mimi Wieck, director of advancement at 712-252-1350 or email her at wieckm@bishopheelan.org. -30-
