Welcome to Bishop Heelan Catholic High School - the online home of the Crusaders. My name is Chris Bork and I am excited to begin my 12th year of service to Bishop Heelan Catholic High School. I have served our schools as a teacher, coach, assistant activities director, dean of students, and am beginning my second year as principal. The 2008-09 school year was highlighted by many accomplishments and I look forward in joining the students and faculty in building upon those during our current academic year.
At Bishop Heelan our faculty and staff work to relate the total student to God through an excellent education which will lead to a lifetime of service. This is a challenging mission which encompasses not only our challenging academic curriculum, but our spiritual formation and dedication to the maintenance of the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.
Academically I am proud to continue the strong tradition at Bishop Heelan. Our academic program addresses the individual learning needs of each student while challenging them to achieve beyond local, state, and national averages. Through the collaboration of our professional faculty we have prepared numerous graduates to successfully navigate their post high school journey whether it is college, military service, or entrance into the labor force.
At Bishop Heelan we strive to make our Catholic faith a central part of the educational day. We regularly celebrate mass as a school community while working to inspire a life of service. We offer several academic courses that tackle moral issues and ethical dilemmas while educating on the life and teachings of our savior Jesus Christ. As a school system (Pre-K through 12th grade) we put our faith into action while participating in spring and fall service days. We also offer numerous individual service opportunities which are directed by our Campus Chaplain and our Director of Faith Formation Father Jerry Cosgrove.
No education would be complete without a complimentary co-curricular program. Bishop Heelan offers a variety of activities which range from Varsity Football to theater and drama. With a full range of sports, activities and clubs our students can not help but to get involved. We truly believe that we offer something for everyone.
Finally, I would not be beginning my 12th year of service to Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools if not for the extended network that make it such a special place and ignites the passion of our supporters. While bricks and mortar create aesthetics that enhance other schools, Heelan is driven by the dedication of our faculty and staff, the caring parents and alumni, and the professionalism of our president and business office. It is the merging of these groups that allows us to offer a welcoming, challenging place for our students to learn safely each day.
