Students for Life

Students for Life is an organization at Heelan promoting respect and concern for all of human life. As servants of hope we strive to defend the weakest in our midst: the defenseless life in the womb, those suffering from life-threatening illness, from crisis pregnancies, the alienated, the imprisoned, and those who have lost all hope for a better world. We are a people proclaiming the sanctity of life and a message of hope that is at the heart of our Christians duty as servants of God and neighbor.

Shield

Each year a dedicated group of students work diligently to capture the school year while carrying out a unique theme throughout the book.
Crusader Chronicle

The students are excited about writing and producing an entertaining and informative paper for the benefit of the Heelan student body.  The Crusader Chronicle will print monthly.  Every issue is eight pages with the exception of the final issue which is sixteen pages.  This issue features primarily the senior class.

Mission Statement

We, the Crusader Chronicle Staff of 2004-05, will attempt to publish an unbiased, well-rounded paper for Bishop Heelan. We also plan to provide a place for students to comfortably express ideas and opinions in order to increase student involvement. Our goal is to provide thorough and accurate stories. We hope to inform, entertain, and enlighten our readers about issues which affect the Heelan community.
Knights of the Alter

The Knights of the Altar is open to all juniors and seniors to serve liturgical functions for the school, diocese, and the Carmelite Nuns.

CYO

CYO  is an organization under the supervision of Judy Johnson which organizes activities for members of the Heelan Community.  Intramurals and dances are but a few of the ways in which this groups contributes to community.
Mission Club

The Heelan Mission Club has been around since the beginning of the school. It may have been known by different names, but its purpose has been the same. This service club is dedicated to helping others. The club acts as a catalyst to "motivate the student body. Usually it has three big fund raisers a year. The first one is the mission social. Proceeds from this activity go to help foreign missions. At Thanksgiving time there is the drive to help needy families in the area. Each homeroom is responsible for a family's Thanksgiving dinner. Over 50 families were helped last year. During Lent the collection is held to help home missions. About 250 students are members of the Mission Club.
