Fr. Al McCoy was born on Dec.15, 1928, in Emmetsburg, IA. He graduated from Emmetsburg Catholoic High School in May 1946. He then attended Loras College in Dubuque until June of 1948. Father McCoy studied Philosophy and Theology at St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, MN, from September 1948 until May 1954, when he was ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City, IA. Father has served in many parishes throughout the diocese and was the Interim President of Bishop Heelan Catholic High School from September 1996 until May 1998. Although officially retired, he is currently Sacramental Minister at Briar Cliff University and the "gopher" at Heelan. |
