I have worked with all age groups from preschool to high school and college students. At Bishop Heelan Catholic High School I have found an outstanding community of faith that focuses on four areas of student development: faith, knowledge, values and service.

Bishop Heelan Catholic High School has a rich tradition in excellent academics, high standards and expectations, and service to others. The faculty is building on the already established diocesan curriculum by writing the Bishop Heelan Catholic High School curriculum in coordination with their K-8 peers. Along with the diocesan curriculum, they are using student data, national standards, and formative assessments to create a living curriculum that will meet the needs of every student.

The instructors use the Iowa Teaching Standards as their guide and they are evaluated yearly using these same standards. New learning styles and teaching strategies are researched on an ongoing basis. Continual staff development, assessment, communication and accountability of curriculum ensure long term success at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School for all students.

Service to our community is an important foundation of Catholic education in Siouxland. Our students are instilled with a daily readiness to respond to the call of distress or discomfort of anyone in need of assistance within the school family, the community, the state, the nation and the world. This proactive concern for those in need is truly in Christ’s image.
